Do nails and hair grow faster as one ages?
This is a vital question to talk about to know if the nailsand the hair grow faster as one grows old. First it is good to know the concept
behind hair growth and nail growth.
Nail and hair have a lot of things in common, they are both
protein which is normally called keratin and this part of the body grows
continuously through out ones life time but there are some factors that inhibit
the growth of this parts of the body.
For nail growth it has a unique way of growth, the length of
the finger is directly proportional to the length or how long the finger nail
will grow, that is the main reason you find out that the nails in the longest
finger or fore finger is always longer than any other nail in the hand this also
is the reason why the finger at the thumb is the shortest.
Now to answer the question as an individual matures or gets
older the rate of hair growth slows down as well as the nail growth will also
slow down this is as a result of reduction in the protein necessary for the
growth reduces as a result of age.
For nail at old age it becomes hard and tough while for hair
there are always cases of hair loss as well as balding in the case of men,
though there are men in their youthful age experiencing baldness this is as a
result of deficiency in some vital hormone but in most cases balding is cause
as one ages.
